EPRT is a rapidly growing single tenant net lease publicly traded REIT based in Princeton, NJ. The Company was formed in April 2016 and currently manages over $1.5 billion in single tenant net lease investments. EPRT is staffed with a well-capitalized, seasoned investment team that is seeking to grow. The candidate will become part of a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances.

Summary

The Senior Staff Accountant will work closely with the Accounting Manager in completing the monthly close process. This includes the reconciliations of assigned workpapers, researching discrepancies, and maintenance of documentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail and ability to grow technical proficiencies in accounting. Candidate must have the ability to meet strict regulation deadlines.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Participate in monthly close process through of reconciliations of balance sheets and income statements to verify account balances and reasonable revenue and expense amounts.
  • Prepare supporting schedules for specific general ledger accounts. Analyzes and reconcile assigned workpapers on a monthly basis.
  • Process and post journal entries for routine transactions and ensures accuracy of the general ledger.
  • Maintain fixed assets and straight line rent schedule.
  • Complete share-based compensation accounting on a monthly basis.
  • Support accounts payable activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness of invoice processing.
  • Works directly with third-party servicer to resolve issues relating to lease set-up, collections, etc. in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to accounting policies, procedures and controls in accordance with sound accounting principles, applicable regulations and laws as well as best practice.
  • Assist with field work for financial and operational audits.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Flexibility and ability to manage immediate business needs.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels within the organization and with external parties.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • Knowledge of basic GAAP accounting rules required.
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience required.
  • Real estate industry experience preferred.
  • Yardi/MRI experience a plus.
